Workrooms in Assette allow team members to collaborate using shared content that is based on approved templates from the Assette Library. To make any changes to content within a Workroom, users must first copy the approved Library content into the desired Workroom. This article explains the process for editing that content and outlines how those edits behave.
Step 1: Copy Content from the Library #
Before editing any content in a Workroom, users must first create a local copy of the approved content:
- Navigate to the Assette Library and locate the content you wish to work with (e.g., a Smart Page or Smart Doc).
- Click the ellipses icon (
...
) next to the content and select Copy to Workroom. - Choose the appropriate Workroom from the list and confirm the copy action.
Once the content has been successfully copied, it will appear in the selected Workroom and will be available for editing.
Step 2: Edit the Workroom Copy #
After the content has been copied to a Workroom:
- Open the Workroom and locate the content you copied.
- Click into the content to begin editing.
- Make your desired modifications using the standard editing tools provided within the Smart Page, Smart Doc, or other content editor.
Any edits made in the Workroom are isolated to that specific copy. This ensures that:
- The original version in the Assette Library remains unchanged.
- Other users who have also copied the same content into a different workspace or Workroom will not be affected by your edits.
- Collaboration within your Workroom is preserved without impacting institutional templates.
Editing the Original Version #
If your intent is to update or revise the original version of content found in the Assette Library, you must:
- Navigate to the appropriate authoring area (e.g., Smart Pages, Smart Docs).
- Locate the original content.
- Make and publish your changes directly within those respective sections.
Only users with the necessary authoring permissions can update content in the source areas that feed the Assette Library.
