Assette allows you to make ad-hoc edits to previously generated Smart Pages and Smart Docs stored in the Library. This functionality is particularly useful when modifications are required after content has already been finalized and published.
Requirements for Editing #
To be eligible for editing, the content must meet the following criteria:
- The Smart Page or Smart Doc must be generated using the Assette generation process.
- The content must be published. Draft content or content that has been rejected cannot be edited using this method.
- You can edit previously generated content stored in the Library, but you cannot edit templates such as draft Smart Pages or Smart Docs that were saved without being generated. Templates are editable in their own right but are not considered previously generated content.
Important Notes on Editing #
When editing previously generated content in the Library:
- All content is treated as static. This means you are editing fixed text, charts, and visuals as if you were editing a regular presentation file (e.g., a PowerPoint deck).
- You cannot add or reinsert dynamic content. For instance, you cannot refresh data from a connected source or rebind dynamic tags. All data is fixed as it was at the time of generation.
- Edits are intended for ad-hoc updates such as fixing typos, rewording a sentence, adjusting layout or design elements, or making compliance-driven changes.
