The Quick View feature in Assette allows users to inspect the visual layout and settings of content components without executing dynamic data. Designed for rapid evaluation, Quick View displays the “as-is” structure of content such as Smart Docs, Smart Pages, Smart Shells, and Data Docs—helping users validate formatting, layout, and static elements before moving into full document assembly or data-driven preview.

Where Quick View is Available #
Quick View is supported for the following content types:
- Smart Pages
- Smart Docs
- Smart Shells
- Data Docs
Each of these components serves a unique purpose in Assette’s content generation stack, and Quick View is tailored accordingly to meet the specific visualization needs of each.
How to Access Quick View #
The method for accessing Quick View depends on the interface version:
- Legacy Pages: Click on the name of the content component directly from its listing page (e.g., under Authoring Center).
- New Launcher Interface: Click the eye icon associated with the desired content. This icon represents the Quick View action.
In both cases, Quick View will open a static representation of the selected item.
What Quick View Displays #
Unlike “Preview with Data,” Quick View does not fetch or render live data. Instead, it offers a layout-only snapshot that allows users to inspect content structure, styling, and component placement. Details include:
- Smart Pages and Smart Docs:
- Displays the current design and layout without binding to dynamic content.
- Users can scroll to zoom into the page for closer inspection.
- If the item contains multiple pages (in the case of Smart Docs), users can navigate through the pages using arrows located at the bottom of the viewer.
- The upper-left corner displays the name of the user who last created or edited the content.
- Smart Shells:
- Offers a static layout view of the shell’s master structure, including placeholders and visual formatting elements.
- Does not render sections or content within the shell dynamically.
- Data Docs:
- Rather than displaying a blank preview of the document (e.g., CSV or Excel), Quick View for Data Docs shows the column configuration and data settings.
- This allows users to inspect how the data will be formatted, including column types and settings, without executing the data preview logic.
Use Cases for Quick View #
Quick View is useful in various scenarios, including:
- Rapid validation of visual layout before publishing or generating previews with live data.
- Reviewing recent edits or structure changes without waiting for dynamic data rendering.
- Auditing content ownership, with quick access to editor information.
- Inspecting data document structure when preview data is unavailable or incomplete.
Because Quick View bypasses data execution, it delivers a faster experience for users focused on layout and structure.
