The Data Files screen in Assette’s Input Center is used to upload CSV-formatted data files for specific data categories and “As of Dates.” If a file cannot be uploaded or if data appears incorrect after upload, it is typically due to configuration, permission, or formatting issues. This article outlines common issues that may prevent successful file upload and explains how to resolve each.
Not Connected to the Internet #
Cause: You are not connected to a network or your connection is unstable.
Solution:
Verify that you are connected to the internet. A stable network connection is required to access the Data Files screen and upload files. Refresh your browser after restoring your connection.
Not Signed into Assette #
Cause: You are not currently logged into your Assette account.
Solution:
Ensure you are signed into Assette with valid credentials. If your session has expired, log in again to access the Input Center and upload files.
Cannot Find or Access the Data Files Page #
Cause: Your user role may not have permission to view or access the Data Files section.
Solution:
Contact your Assette administrator to confirm that your role includes the necessary permissions to access the Input Center and upload data files. Only users with appropriate access can see the Data Files tab.
Incorrect Data Category Selected #
Cause: The selected data category does not match the file being uploaded.
Solution:
Ensure that you select the correct data category from the drop-down menu before uploading. The file’s structure, content, and naming must align with the selected category. Selecting the wrong category can lead to processing errors or rejected files.
Incorrect or Unexpected File Name #
Cause: The uploaded file does not follow the required naming convention for the selected data category.
Solution:
Check that the file name matches the expected naming convention for the selected category. Naming conventions are typically pre-configured and may be case-sensitive or require specific suffixes or prefixes. Contact your administrator if you are unsure of the correct format.
Incorrect or Unexpected File MIME Type #
Cause: The uploaded file is not in CSV format.
Solution:
Confirm that the file extension is .csv
and that the file is formatted as a comma-separated values file. Files in formats such as .xlsx
, .xls
, or .txt
are not accepted. You can open the file in a text editor or spreadsheet application and re-save it as CSV if needed.
Uploaded the Incorrect File #
Cause: The content of the uploaded file does not match the selected data category or date.
Solution:
Review the file contents to ensure it corresponds to the selected data category and “As of Date.” Uploading a correct file type is not sufficient—the file must also include valid and relevant data for the specified parameters.
Incorrect or Unexpected Columns in File #
Cause: The file does not include the expected column headers or contains extra or missing columns.
Solution:
Verify that the file structure matches the required template for the selected data category. Column headers must be spelled exactly as expected and appear in the required order. Avoid adding additional columns or omitting required ones. Refer to the template for the data category if available.
File Uploaded for Wrong “As of Date” #
Cause: You selected an incorrect “As of Date” in the upload screen.
Solution:
Ensure that the selected “As of Date” reflects the date for which the data applies. Selecting the wrong date can result in data being misaligned or not appearing as expected in reports or views.
Incorrect or Unexpected “As of Date” in File #
Cause: The “As of Date” inside the file content does not match the selected date in the upload screen.
Solution:
If your file includes a date column, confirm that the dates align with the “As of Date” selected during upload. A mismatch can cause validation issues or incorrect data loading. Update either the selected date or the values in the file so that they match.
