In the Assette PowerPoint Editor, dynamic Smart Shells provide powerful, flexible, and refreshable content. However, there are situations where you may want to finalize a slide by converting dynamic items into static content. The Un-Fabricate feature allows you to do exactly that. By un-fabricating a Smart Shell, you create a static version of the content, severing its connection to the Smart Shell Library and ensuring it remains unchanged even when future refreshes occur.

To un-fabricate a Smart Shell, first select the fabricated item—whether it is a chart, table, or text element. Then, click the Un-Fabricate button located on the Assette ribbon. A confirmation prompt will appear to ensure you intend to proceed. Once confirmed, Assette will duplicate and un-fabricate the selected item, displaying a success message: “Successfully un-fabricated.” If you change your mind immediately after un-fabricating, you can quickly undo the action by pressing Ctrl+Z.
It is important to note that each dynamic item must be un-fabricated individually. For example, if a slide contains a dynamic chart and a dynamic table, you must manually select and un-fabricate each one. This design ensures that users maintain granular control over which objects remain dynamic, and which are finalized as static content.
Once an item is un-fabricated, it becomes completely disconnected from the Smart Shell library. Any subsequent Smart Shell Refresh will not affect the static version, giving you full independence and control over your PowerPoint deck’s final appearance.
