Data validations in the Input Center allow users to view the results of the validations run on data loaded into the Assette database from data source systems. These validations ensure the integrity of quantitative data and confirm its readiness for generating outputs from the Assette software. To view Data Validations, users must have access to the Output Center, for more information on access and permissions, see Internal User Roles & Tasks
Viewing Data Validation Results #
To access data validation results:
- Navigate to Input Center → Data Validations.
Data loaded into the Assette system is checked against several validation rules at different stages of the loading process. These checks are performed for each data pull initiated from the Input Center. To view validation results:
- Select the specific Data Pull by choosing the As-of-Date, Source System, and the respective Data Pull from the dropdowns at the top.
Note: By default, the data validation results of the latest data pull are displayed on the screen.
Data Validation Views #
Validation results are categorized into three views/tabs:
- Account Data | by account: Displays validation results for data attributed to accounts, summarized account-wise.
- Account Data | by rule: Displays validation results for data attributed to accounts, summarized rule-wise.
- Reference Data | by rule: Displays validation results for reference data (e.g., asset class, sector) summarized rule-wise.
Types of Data Violations #
Validation results are classified into four categories based on their impact on data integrity:
- Warning: Requires manual verification. The data load can still complete successfully.
- Error: Data can be loaded successfully, but the error must be resolved either in Assette or at the source system, followed by reinitiating the data pull.
- Critical: Data cannot be loaded. The critical error must be resolved, and the data pull must be reinitiated.
- Success: The data has passed validation with no violations.
Account Data Validation Results #
Validation results for account data are accessible under two tabs:
Account Data | by account #
This view summarizes validation results as a count of accounts:
- Accounts: Total number of accounts validated.
- Success: Accounts that passed all validation rules.
- Warning: Accounts with only warning-level violations.
- Error: Accounts with one or more error-level violations but no critical errors.
- Critical: Accounts with one or more critical errors (may also include warnings or errors).
Expand rows to view violated rules, rule descriptions, and resolutions. Each validation rule’s result is displayed in the Results column.
Account Data | by rule #
This view summarizes validation results as a count of validation rules:
- Rules: Total number of validation rules applied.
- Success: Rules passed by all accounts.
- Warning: Rules violated by accounts at the warning level.
- Error: Rules violated by accounts at the error level.
- Critical: Rules violated by accounts at the critical level.
Expand rows to view rule descriptions, resolutions, and lists of accounts violating the rule. Each validation rule’s result is displayed in the Results column.
Reference Data Validation Results #
Validation results for reference data (e.g., sectors, industries) are accessible under the Reference Data | by rule tab. Results are summarized as follows:
- Rules: Total number of validation rules applied.
- Success: Rules passed without violations.
- Warning: Rules violated at the warning level.
- Error: Rules violated at the error level.
- Critical: Rules violated at the critical level.
Click individual summary boxes to filter results by error type or view all. Additional filtering options for Data Category, Rule Class, and Rule are available. Expand rows to view rule descriptions, error details, and resolutions. Each validation rule’s result is displayed in the Results column.
