In Assette, Content Groups are used to logically organize content types within the Content Type Master. While the use of Content Groups is optional and has minimal impact on functionality, it plays a valuable role in helping users sort, categorize, and locate content more efficiently within the platform.
Purpose of Content Groups #
The primary function of a Content Group is to offer a non-rigid classification mechanism for content types. When assigning a Content Type to a Content Group, users are essentially choosing a label that best reflects the general category or usage context of that content type. This assignment does not affect the behavior, processing, or delivery of the content but can be useful for filtering, browsing, and overall organization within the Assette user interface.
For example, grouping content types like “Monthly Client Report” and “Quarterly Client Report” under the Client Reports group helps users quickly locate all content intended for client reporting.
Available Content Groups #
Here is a table outlining the available Content Groups in Assette, including descriptions and possible examples to help guide selection during Content Type creation. These groups are predefined in Assette and cannot be modified. While optional, assigning a Content Group enhances organization and content discoverability across the platform.
Content Group | Description | Examples of Content Types |
---|---|---|
Client Reports | Used for recurring or ad hoc reporting packages shared with clients. | Monthly Client Report, Quarterly Client Report, etc. |
Pitchbooks | Materials designed for sales presentations and business development. | Prospect Pitchbook, Product Overview Deck, etc. |
Factsheets | Summary documents detailing product performance, holdings, and characteristics. | Fixed Income Factsheet, Equity Strategy Factsheet, etc. |
Client Provided Templates (CPTs) | Templates supplied directly by clients, often used to meet custom formatting or branding needs. | Custom Client Report Template, Branded Performance Insert, etc. |
Other | A general-purpose option for content that does not fit into the above categories. | Internal Reference Sheet, Ad Hoc Memo, etc. |
Guidelines for Selection #
While not required, it is recommended to select a Content Group when defining a Content Type. Doing so helps improve internal organization and supports better discoverability for business users. A Content Type can only have a single Content Group.
When choosing a Content Group:
- Select the group that best reflects the typical use case of the content type.
- If the content doesn’t fit any specific group, use Other as a fallback.
- Remember that grouping has no downstream effect on system behavior—its value is in usability and clarity.
