This article details how Assette organizes its user into various roles using the legacy user interface. Each role is intended to handle a specific aspect of content creation, data input, or content sharing within Assette. Additionally, each role is designed with a specific job or department in mind. For the example, the “Sales” role focuses on the distribution of content to clients, leveraging the Output Center to tailor and deliver content effectively.

User Roles #
Approver #
Role Description: The Approver role is focused on reviewing and approving work items generated within the application. They primarily operate within the Workbox module, which consolidates items awaiting review and decision-making.
Workbox Access: Approves, rejects, or provides feedback on content, ensuring the quality and compliance of work before final distribution.
Assette Admin #
Role Description: Holds the highest level of access within the application, responsible for overseeing all features and functionalities. This role combines technical oversight, user management, and system customization.
Input Center: Full access to data entry, management of recipients, accounts, CRM, and HRIS integrations.
Authoring Center: Complete control over content creation (Smart Docs, Data Docs, GIPS, Commentaries, etc.), template designs, and branding.
Content Center: Manages all content distribution, template personalization, and analytics.
Admin Center: Oversees system configurations, user management (both internal and external), master data (attributes, products, content types), and compliance settings.
Sales #
Role Description: These roles focus on the distribution and presentation of content to clients, leveraging the Output Center to tailor and deliver content effectively.
Output Center
- Explore Data: Accesses available datasets for review and use in client communications.
- Data Packs & Sharing Methods: Creates data packs for distribution and utilizes different sharing channels like email, client portals, and viewer tools.
- Content Personalization & Analytics: Tailors content for specific client needs and tracks performance and engagement.
Content Author #
Role Description: Responsible for content creation, including documents, reports, and templates. Operates primarily in the Authoring Center to develop client-facing materials.
Authoring Center
- Smart Docs & Templates: Creates and customizes document templates.
- Web Docs & Stories: Develops interactive web-based content.
- Smart Pages, Shells, & Dynamic Language Blocks: Manages reusable content elements and structures for consistency.
- Commentaries: Generates commentary content in both ad-hoc and batch modes, ensuring timely and relevant client communications.
GIPS Author #
Role Description: Responsible for reviewing and approving GIPS-related content to ensure compliance with the Global Investment Performance Standards.
GIPS Content Approval: Reviews GIPS-compliant documents and reports, providing the necessary approvals for distribution.
GIPS Author #
Role Description: Develops GIPS-compliant content, ensuring all documents meet performance standards and industry regulations.

Product Specialist #
Role Description: Operates within the Authoring Center, focusing on content creation, including specialized product information and client-facing materials.

- Internal Dashboards & Client Portal Pages: Creates dashboards and portal content for both internal use and client access.
Qualitative Data SME (Subject Matter Expert) #
Role Description: Focuses on managing and authoring qualitative data within the Input Center, ensuring detailed information about people, firm strategies, and qualitative insights are accurately captured and maintained.
Input Center: Manages ownership, master questionnaires, people profiles, firm information, and strategies for qualitative insights.
Quantitative Data SME (Subject Matter Expert) #
Role Description: Responsible for quantitative data management within the Input Center, focusing on numerical and statistical data relevant to firm activities, performance, and client information.
Input Center: Handles data sets, metrics, and quantitative information, ensuring data is properly structured, validated, and accessible for analysis.
System Admin #
Role Description: Manages system-wide configurations, settings, and integrations, ensuring smooth operation of the application across all departments.
Admin Center & Input Center: Controls system configurations, user permissions, integrations (CRM, HRIS), and maintains master data for products and attributes.
User Admin (Internal) #
Role Description: Handles user management for internal Assette users, ensuring they have the correct access and permissions based on their roles.
Admin Center: Creates, edits, and manages access for all internal users within the application, setting task-based roles and permissions.
User Admin (External) #
Role Description: Manages external user access, primarily dealing with client portal users to ensure they have proper access to the content and tools they require.
