# Managing Disclosure Fragment Categories

Within the Disclosure Fragments interface in Assette, users can organize and maintain categories used to group fragments. The Categories management feature provides a user-friendly popup interface for viewing, adding, and removing fragment categories.

## Accessing the Category Management Interface

To manage categories:

1. Navigate to the **Disclosure Fragments** page.
2. Click the **Manage Categories** option. This opens the **Categories** popup window.

## Adding a Category

To add a new category:

1. Click the **Add Category** button (identified by the green "+" icon at the bottom of the category list).
2. Enter a unique name for the new category in the provided text field.
3. Click **Apply** to save changes.

**Important Notes When Adding:**

- Each category name must be unique. Duplicate category names are not allowed.
- Avoid using names that are already in use, even if letter casing differs.

## Removing a Category

To remove an existing category:

1. Locate the category you wish to remove in the list.
2. Click the red delete icon (minus sign) next to that category.

**Important Notes When Removing:**

- A category **cannot be removed** if it is currently assigned to any disclosure fragment.
- If the delete icon appears disabled (grayed out), it indicates the category is in use and therefore cannot be removed until it is disassociated from all fragments.

## Saving or Discarding Changes

Once edits are complete:

- Click **Apply** to save and implement the changes.
- Click **Cancel** to close the interface without saving.
