# Developer Tools Overview

Developer Tools allows developers or tech-savvy users create, edit, and manage Data Blocks, Data Objects, and Footnotes. In general, business and other end users do not use Developer Tools—for this reason, Developer Tools is usually disabled for most users. If a user requires access, please contact your organization Assette Admin, or see the relevant article on [Developer Tools Permissions](https://learn.assette.com/docs/setting-up-developer-user/). Developer Tools can be accessed by clicking on Developer Tools from [the Assette Navigation Bar](https://learn.assette.com/docs/the-assette-navigation-bar/)at the top of the screen.

## API Definitions

[API Definitions](https://learn.assette.com/docs/api-definitions-overview/) empowers users to configure and manage API integrations directly within the Assette platform. By utilizing the API Definitions area, you can set up your own APIs, manage credentials, and test integrations without relying on Assette support. This API Definitions streamlines the process of integrating external data sources, making your API Data Blocks more efficient and flexible.

## Footnotes

The [Footnote Editor](https://learn.assette.com/docs/footnote-editor-overview/)allows developers and technical users to create dynamic footnotes which can be associated with Data Objects using the [Title & Footnotes Tab](https://learn.assette.com/docs/title-footnotes-tab/).
